Accounts
Setting up an IRES account for research computing
The primary purpose of the IRES server is to provide KU researchers with
a Unix system for statistics and CPU-intensive numerical computing.
It is also available for use by classes that require these functions.
In order to ensure fair availability of resources no individual user
should run more than one CPU-intensive process at any time.
Processes run in violation of this policy may be killed without
further warning or notification.
IRES accounts are available to all KU faculty, staff, and graduate
students involved in research computing. There is no charge for accounts.
To set up an account, fill out the Computing Services
account request form,
selecting "Research System" and writing in "IRES." Note that passwords
must be 7 to 16 characters long and must contain upper and lower case
letters, at least one digit, and at least one special character.
